The Harrah's casino in Cherokee attracts folks coming west from Piedmont NC, coming north from Atlanta, and coming south from Knoxville, Gatlinburg. The other option is heading south through northern Georgia to I-85 and then head northeast to Greensboro, and that involves very little significant twists and curvy 2 lanes but its a very long drive. When you get to I-40, its a long drive back to Greensboro, including a stertch of 55 mph in the Pigeon River Gorge, or you can go $0 East to I-81 north through SW Virgina to Wytheville then head south on I-77 to I-73 to Greensboro. For example, taking Hwy 129 to I-40 at Maryville, Tennessee involves climbing the ' Tail of the Dragon', so -named because it is so twisty that it attracts motorcyclist from around the world who try to race up and down through the curves. This is located inside the Harrah's River Valley casino in Murphy, NC. The other ways go WAY out of your way and involve twisty roads as well, some REALLY twisty roads.
